Craft, or Bodger's shelters are a new addition for 2011. They are in response to guests who have done one or more courses, asking if they can come back just to do their own thing in their own time, but with the same set of tools as they've enjoyed on courses, and - of course in the peace of our woodland.

We have two shelters available away from the main workshop area that were originally erected for the filming of the BBC Mastercraft series. They offer shelter from the rain and are equipped with a fire pit to keep you warm in the colder months.

The shelters are available to rent at £60 per day from 9.00 - 5.00 and are fully equipped with their own set of very high quality tools (the same as used on courses), a pole lathe, a shaving horse and logs for your own fire. They also have an easel and so can be used for art, craft or whatever takes your fancy as an escape with a difference.

Materials are not included but can be ordered in advance if required, or bring your own materials if you prefer. If there is a course running, you are welcome join us for lunch (and home-made afternoon cake) each day for an additional cost of £20. Those who have visited us in 2010 will be aware of quite how special the 'Nettle Pickers' lunches are; those who have not will just have to take my word for it! They are extraordinarily enjoyable, and obviously everything is freshly picked, local and cooked in-front of us each day in the woods.

Please note that we have to book lunches 10 days in advance, so do please let me know in time as we cannot make last minute additions.

Guy and the team are usually fully preoccupied with running courses and therefore will not necessarily be available for advice and help. For this reason, hire of the shelters for woodwork is restricted to those that have attended a relevant course and, essentially, received the appropriate safety training with us.
