We Have Permission!

At last - after three years of design, development and planning we can announce that we've just received planning permission to build our long-awaited luxury treehouse, here in the woods at Crafty Camping.

The news came through yesterday and work started immediately. Everything was here and ready to go - the only thing missing was the permission.

Before anything else, we started by hoisting one of our giant parachute shelters up over the building site to enable us to work in all weathers. I am pleased to be able to say that, despite gales across England today, we have had no problems here - an advantage of being well-sheltered in the middle of woodland. (As you might guess from the name, our parachute roof is particularly efficient at catching any wind in exposed locations!)

Today we are marking out the foundations. Having now tested one, the rest of the metal screw pile foundations will be going in at the beginning of next week, as well as scaffolding around the perimeter of the treehouse. Then the fun and games really begins with stilts, decks and the building itself. The website has floorplans and sketches of the design -

We always let our loyal newsletter readers and past guests know our news first, and this is no exception - with this newsletter you now among the very first to know that we'll be opening the treehouse on June 15th. More importantly, bookings can be made right now:

Group bookings for the whole site after June 15th also include the treehouse. We will leave it entirely up to you to decide which members of your group get the treehouse and which ones will just have to make do with a luxury yurt, tipi, shepherd's hut or bell tent ...

As ever, if you have a particular date in mind do please book early as once it's gone it's gone. We take 25% on booking and the balance eight weeks before arrival. The 2016 prices and seasons are here:

Over the coming months we'll be updating our newsletter readers with progress in the normal way. However, do also keep an eye on our Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Youtube channels for up to the minute updates on goings-on here in our woodland. We are making a video of the whole treehouse project which is already proving entertaining - but it's going to need a lot of editing at the end.

That's it for now - we'd better get on. There's lots of work to do before June 15th!
